FUNDRAISING - 2015 CALENDAR

Postcard Information

The 12 detachable postcards on our 2015 Limited Edition Pinner Calendar have been reproduced from original art work created by local artists. Pinner seen through their eyes. Oil paintings, paintings in acrylic, pastels, pen and ink, with and without wash and digitally altered images. Many of these artists are members of the Pinner Sketch Club and other clubs in the area and hold exhibitions locally and further afield.

January postcard
"Queen's Head, Pinner-on-Sea" altered image by Kara Lines

Not all High Streets are the same and neither should they be. Kara Lines celebrates the differences and puts her own slant on this view of Pinner's Queen's Head.

"Pinner Parish Church and Restaurant" pen and ink by Clive Baxter

Clive Baxter's attention to detail adds to this traditional view of Pinner's most photographed and painted church (Church of St John the Baptist) at the top of Pinner High Street.

March postcard
"Pinner High Street" altered image by Ann Kopka

Ann Kopka, member of Pinner Sketch Club, transforms her own photographs into vibrant altered images. But it's still a view from the top of Pinner High Street.

April postcard
"Our Pinner" line and wash by Pam Adsley

Pam Adsley, member of Pinner Sketch Club, sees Our Pinner as most of us see it in our mind's eye. If only we could all draw and paint what we see like this.

Pam Adsley's style is rather different. "I do a bit of everything, I've exhibited works in acrylic, pastels and some little watercolours of the local area - doorways of some old properties in Pinner which people will probably recognise.
"I like to do a variety of things, but watercolour and line and wash are my favourites because I love doing local landscapes and architecture."

Adapted from an article in the Watford Observer.

May postcard
"Pinner Fair" watercolour by John Pickard

John Pickard, member of Pinner Sketch Club, catches the atmosphere of the Fair, which takes over the High Street and Bridge Street for a day every May. The Fair was granted its Royal Charter in 1336.

John Pickard told us: "My preferred medium is watercolour but I have also painted in acrylics and other media. The subjects I paint are very varied and I am up for a challenge; town and country landscapes, street scenes, gardens, old buildings, bridges, rivers, portraits, abstracts etc. Quite often I paint in the open air and other times take photographs and paint from these."

June postcard
From a painting of "St Mary's Church Harrow on the Hill" acrilic by Dow Pichaiwatkomol

Dow Pichaiwatkomol, member of Pinner Sketch Club, captures many artist styles and in this one of the church on top of Harrow on the Hill creates wonderfully contrasting textures of this iconic church and its surroundings.

July postcard
"Memorial Park, Pinner" by Dow Pichaiwatkomol

Dow Pichaiwatkomol, member of Pinner Sketch Club, demonstrates another of her many styles and captures the relaxed atmosphere and colourful surroundings of Pinner Memorial Park. An ideal place for a summer picnic.

August postcard
"High Street, Pinner-on-Sea" altered image by Kara Lines

Another clever take on Pinner's historic High Street. May it retain it's unique and picturesque character, even if it is not as Kara Lines would have us believe. August is the time for a visit to the beach!

September postcard
"Willows by the Pinn, Eastcote" mixed media by Pam Adsley

Pam Adsley, member of Pinner Sketch Club, captures this distinctive willow. Anyone who has driven or walked along Old Eastcote High Road, leading to the junction with Joel Street, will instantly recognise its distinctive twists and curls.

For comments on Pam's style see next to the April postcard, above.

October postcard
Taken from "Friends Restaurant" pen and ink by Clive Baxter

Clive Baxter's meticulous lines, hatchings and dotting creates textures you can feel and all but touch. Part framed by the arching overhang of the Victory points us towards Friends Restaurant, Terry Farr's second home.

November postcard
From "Evening Walk, Yeading" in pastel by Margaret Morley.

Margaret Morley, member of Pinner Sketch Club and Hillingdon Artists, captures an evening stroll by Yeading Brook and a memorable sky. Not the time of year for picnics but a little brisk exercise is good any time of year.

Margaret Mosley told us she has always had a passionate interest in drawing and painting. She loves to explore nature and enjoys using pastels to create exciting and colourful images of landscapes, flowers and figures. She also paints with acrylic and watercolour and likes to experiment with new techniques.

December postcard
"Holy Trinity Church Northwood" pen and ink by Richard Woodfield.

Richard Woodfield, member of Pinner Sketch Club and of the Eastcote Art Society, simply captures this snowy scene in Northwood. Attention to detail is striking not only of the church but also of the trees.

Richard Woodfield commented to us "Although my favourite medium is pen and ink, I also enjoy working in pencil, pastel and gouache. I was influenced by the prolific output and talents of the great Frank Patterson and Alfred Wainwright and my love of recording the landscape, architecture and natural history of the British Isles, survives to this day. I exhibit locally and in 2011 published a book of my own pen and ink sketches."
