helping multiply-disabled adults
to enjoy a real home from home

Bedford House is a modern, purpose built, facility run by Harrow Council and provides Residential, Respite, and Day-Centre facilities for learning-disabled adults many of whom are also physically disabled. It has 11 residential places.

The Friends of Bedford House help the staff to provide some of the extras, often taken for granted, including:

a car with a wheelchair facility and other much needed equipment,
trips to shops, tickets and visits to the theatre,
family visits,
canal-boat trips and outings,
barbecues and birthday parties
assisting with the learning of facts and skills
and the fostering of creative achievement.

The Friends of Bedford House have provided a sensory cabin and Optimusic system offering stimulus to clients' senses and imagination - improving their sense of pleasure, achievement and empowerment.

They have built a sensory garden to further enhance these simple pleasures.

At Bedford House, learning and physically disabled people "get a life".

The Friends of Bedford House help it happen!

How Frustrated Communication found the Friends of Bedford House -

The Rotary Club of Pinner has raised money for the Friends of Bedford House (Christmas 2008) and has a long running relationship providing Christmas and Birthday presents and cards for the Residents of Bedford House.

How Frustrated Communication has helped:
In 2009 we provided funds to buy solar lights for their new sensory garden.

In 2010 we provided funds to buy aromatic plants to enhance their clients' experience of their sensory garden.

In 2011 we provided funds towards the planned touch sensitive screen for their Lounge to enable their residential clients to upload and show their photographs.
