Scenes of Pinner then and now

So here are the results of our efforts....
Many thanks - everyone who helped
and a special thanks to everyone who bought one (or more).

Our second calendar has gone well,
some 309, we managed to sell.
This made a profit of Twelve Hundred Pounds -
for us, I'd say, that's more than it sounds.

Since it also helps, in all fairness
with our local work and local awareness.

Once again our Celebrity Chef, Terry Farr
of Friends Restaurant, Pinner was our true Star.
He provided us with 12 recipes, divine,
to help your taste buds, each month, shine.

Added to this, for our postcard theme
we delved into the past to see what was seen.
We borrowed postcards, one dating from 1902.
Compared with today quite different .... but similar too!

You don't have to live in Pinner or even nearby to enjoy some of its picturesque scenes and its village atmosphere. Many of these scenes have been appreciated and recorded for 100 years or more, as can be seen from the selection of postcards we have reproduced for this year's calendar.

You don't need to have experienced some of the wonderful food served at Friends Restaurant in Pinner High Street to appreciate some of the fabulous recipes from our very own celebrity chef, Terry Farr.

This Charity Calendar gives you a taster of both. It's been put together by the team at Frustrated Communication with a great deal of help from Terry Farr and the local print and design company - WD&P.

The calendar has 12 detachable postcards - photos from Pinner's past taken from actual postcards from local collections plus on the reverse of each month is a fabulous recipe by Terry Farr.

We are indebted to those who kindly lent us the postcards including Pat Clarke, local historian, and member of The Pinner Local History Society who also helped with the wording both on the reverse of the postcards and on the inside front cover where you will find a brief glimpse into Pinner's past - a few snippets of information about Pinner's history. Also look out for The Pinner Local History Society's new book: "Around Pinner trough time".

The calendar can be purchased at Friends Restaurant and at a number of local shops. See the separate page on this site for details.

You may also like to read a little more information on some of the local landmarks featured in the photos on the postcards attached to each month's page of the calendar and see what they looked like in 2013. Some have changed a lot and some remain remarkably similar despite the passage of time.

Many businesses have supported us in many ways through the production and sale of this local charity calendar, very few more so than locally based Estate Agents Gibbs Gillespie.
